Welcome to the Spallumcheen Council Highlights.  The Township office is Open for Business and is taking precautions to adhere to the Worksafe BC protocols for safe operations. Please be advised a maximum of 2 people are allowed to be inside the office at one time. Your cooperation with these new requirements is appreciated. The week of June 1-7 is BC’s Child and Youth Care Week to celebrate the strength and spirit of Young people in care and to raise awareness.

Coffee with the Mayor:

The next Coffee with the Mayor is on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at 10:30 am when special guests MP Mel Arnold and MLA Greg Kyllo will be joining us. Please note these meetings will be via electronic means until further notice. If you wish to attend virtually, please email your name, address and phone number to the Township at mail@spallumcheentwp.bc.ca and an access code will be provided to you.

 

Finance Department

  • Deferment Program:  All participants in the Property Tax Deferment Program please note that the program is now 100% online.  You will receive a letter with your account information soon; this letter is very important. As of May 1, 2020 all agreement renewals will be required to be completed on-line with the information provided in this letter. Please visit your closest Service BC office for assistance, should you need it.
  • Property Taxes: In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the province is working diligently with municipalities to formulate action plans to minimize the financial strain that property taxes may have on businesses and homeowners at this time. Armstrong Spallumcheen Parks & Recreation:

While parks and playgrounds are currently open, the remaining Parks and Recreation facilities are still closed until further notice. Please check the websites of local organizations for up to date information on services and/or closures.

 

 

 

Round Tables (Business, Economic Development & Farming):

Please advise us via mail@spallumcheentwp.bc.ca if you are experiencing any difficulties relating to the COVID-19 crisis.  We’d like to hear from you!

 

Public Works Department:

  • Roadside Mowing: Roadside mowing is expected to commence in June. Please be mindful of crews working and drive with due care and attention.
  • Back Enderby Road Paving Project – 2020: The Back Enderby Road paving project is scheduled for July 2020. Please refer to the Township’s website at www.spallumcheentwp.bc.ca for ongoing updates.
  • Sicamous-to-Armstrong Rail Trail: Farmers:  expect vehicles & ATV’s as the Trail is being worked on.

 

Armstrong Spallumcheen Fire Department:

  • Open Burning

Please note there is NO OPEN BURNING until November 1, 2020. (Fines may be issued for all burning that is contrary to the Township’s bylaws).

  • Campfires

Campfires are permitted so long as they are (1) No larger than 0.5 metres in height and 0.5 metres width; (2) Contained (Non-combustible base w-edging); (3) Used for cooking purposes, recreational or ceremonial purposes; (4) Ability to extinguish fully and supervised at all times; and (5) Not subject to a campfire ban.
