GENERAL VOTING DAY will be open to qualified electors of the Township of Spallumcheen on Saturday, November 21, 2009 between the hours of 8:00 am and 8:00 pm at Township of Spallumcheen Municipal Office, 4144 Spallumcheen Way, Spallumcheen, BC. Elector Registration There is no need to pre-register to vote as the registration of all electors for this by-election will take place at the time of voting. You will be required to make a declaration that you meet the following requirements: · 18 years of age or older, · Canadian citizen, · resident of BC for at least 6 months immediately preceding voting day, · resident of OR registered owner of real property in the Township of Spallumcheen for at least 30 days immediately preceding voting day, and · not otherwise disqualified by law from voting. Resident electors will also be required to produce 2 pieces of identification (at least one with a signature). Picture identification is not necessary. The identification must prove both residency and identity (BC Driver’s License, BC Identification Card, BC CareCard, SIN Card, Credit/Debit Card, utility bill or tax notice proving residency). Non-resident property electors must produce 2 pieces of identification (at least one with a signature) to prove identity, proof that they are entitled to register in relation to the property, and, if applicable, written consent from the majority of property owners. Advance Voting Opportunities Advance voting will take place at the Municipal Office, 4144 Spallumcheen Way, Spallumcheen, BC, on Thursday, November 12, 2009 and Wednesday, November 18, 2009 between the hours of 8:00 am and 8:00 pm each day. Mail Ballot Voting Opportunities The only electors who may vote by mail ballot are the following: (a) persons who have a physical disability, illness, or injury that affects their ability to vote at another voting opportunity; and (b) persons who expect to be absent from the Township of Spallumcheen on general voting day and at the times of all advance voting opportunities. MAIL BALLOT APPLICATION PROCEDURE A person wishing to vote by mail ballot shall make application during the period commencing November 5, 2009 and ending at 4:00 pm November 19, 2009 by contacting the Chief Election Officer or Deputy Chief Election Officer.
