The Township of Spallumcheen is notifying residents that Township staff are responding to an unexpected watermain break within the South Local Area Service located along Otter Lake Cross Rd.
Upon the advice of Interior Health, and in an abundance of caution, due to the watermain break and watermain shutdown, a boil water advisory has been issued for all residents within the South Local Area Service which encompasses both the Larkin Water System and Eagle Rock Water System. The boil water advisory will remain in place until Interior Health Association confirms that the water quality tests continue to meet drinking water standards.
The Township is advising that all water users in the South Local Area Service, while on a boil water advisory, should follow the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations. If possible, use alternate water sources such as bottled water during this time or bring tap water to a full rolling boil for 1 minute before use.
