CAMPFIRE BAN LIFTED FOR THE TOWNSHIP OF SPALLUMCHEEN

The Township of Spallumcheen campfire ban has been lifted effective 12:00 pm, Thursday, September 16, 2021 based on recommendations of the Armstrong Spallumcheen Fire Chief. The Township of Spallumcheen originally initiated a campfire ban on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 due to the hot dry conditions. Fire Chief Ian Cummings indicated “The cooler temperatures and increased precipitation have reduced the fire risk in our area. While campfires will be allowed, open burning remains prohibited, including the use of fireworks, sky lanterns and burn barrels. Please exercise caution while enjoying your campfire in a safe and responsible manner.”

Please note open burning concluded April 15 & is currently not currently permitted within the Township of Spallumcheen.

The use of fireworks is only permitted within the Township in the last week of October, however, fireworks can have an adverse effect on animals. It has been shown that the noise of fireworks makes animals visibly nervous and can cause animals to flee their homes to try and avoid the noise. Please be considerate of neighbours with animals and use extreme caution when planning to use fireworks.
