The Township of Spallumcheen is lifting the Campfire Ban effective 12:00 pm on Thursday, September 28, 2023 based on the recommendation of the Armstrong Spallumcheen Fire Department's Fire Chief. Please refer to the Township of Spallumcheen Fire Prevention Bylaw regarding campfire regulations.
Please note, in accordance with the Township of Spallumcheen Fire Prevention Bylaw, Open Burning of Vegetation by farmers, orchardists and household residents shall be allowed without a Permit from November 1 each year to April 30 of the following year unless an open burning fire ban has been issued by the Fire Chief. The burning period will not extend past April 30. Please review the open burning regulations outlined in the Township of Spallumcheen Fire Prevention Bylaw prior to commencing any burning.
Additionally, properties that are zoned Residential (R.1) or Residential (R.5) (mainly subdivisions and mobile home parks) as outlined in the Township
of Spallumcheen Zoning Bylaw, shall not
be permitted to open burn at any time. If you are not sure what zone your property is , please call the Township Municipal Hall at 250-546-3013 prior to commencing any burning.
Any person found in contravention of this bylaw may be subject to fines under the current Township of Spallumcheen Municipal Ticket Information Bylaw, as amended from time to time.
Please ensure you make yourself familiar with the regulations outlined in the Township of Spallumcheen Fire Prevention Bylaw. Please call the Township Municipal Hall at 250-546-3013 if you require clarification.
Please be advised that the following is prohibited within the Township at ALL TIMES:
• The use of sky lanterns,
• The use of binary exploding targets,
• The use of tiki and similar kinds of torches,
• The use of chimineas,
• The use of outdoor stoves or other portable campfire apparatus without a Canadian Standards Association (CSA) or Underwriter Laboratories of Canada (ULC) rating,
• The use of air curtain burners,
• BURN BARRELS are not permitted within the Township at any time.
The use of fireworks is only permitted within the Township in the last week of October if there is not a fire ban in effect. Fireworks are not permitted at any other time and fines are applicable if you are found to be setting off fireworks outside of the specified time-frame.
