Temporary Speed Reduction to remain in effect for Larkin Cross Road and Otter Lake Road through the weekend
Larkin Cross Road and Otter Lake Road are now open but with reduced speed which will remain in effect throughout the weekend.
Please obey all traffic control signs.
On the morning of June 7, 2024 a vehicle hauling vegetable oil proceeded to travel on public roadways with an open port which caused vegetable oil to coat portions of Larkin Cross Road and Otter Lake Road within the Township. Due to the extremely slick road conditions, Township public works crews closed portions of Larkin Cross Road and Otter Lake Road while clean-up efforts were underway. Clean-up efforts appear to be working well, and the roadways have been reopened, however, in an abundance of caution, reduced speed limits are in effect in these areas. Road clean-up efforts have left residual sand and loose gravel on the roadways. Maximum 30km/hr will be in effect throughout the weekend and crews will reassess the situation on Monday to determine if speeds can returned to normal. When in the area, the Township asks that you obey all traffic control signs in place.
