General Notices
- Open Burning Reminder – the Open Burning period has now ended. Should the fire department respond to a fire call at your property, and you are found to be in contravention of the Township of Spallumcheen Fire Prevention Bylaw, you may be responsible for the costs associated to the fire call and as well be subject to fines.
- Fireworks – Are only permitted between October 24 and November 1 each year and are not permitted outside that time as they cause stress and strain on our agricultural community. Thank you for following our bylaws and respecting our community and your neighbours. To report incidences of fireworks happening outside of this time frame, residents are asked to call 911 and ask for Fire Dispatch. Should the fire department respond to a fireworks call at your property, and you are found to be in contravention, you may be responsible for the costs associated with the fire call and as well be subject to fines.
- 2022 Draft Annual Report is available on the website. Public review and comments can be submitted in writing (no later than 4:00 pm Monday, June 5, 2023) or in person at the Monday, June 5, 2023 Regular Council meeting scheduled for 5:30 pm.

Emergency Preparedness
- Wildfire Preparedness – Get prepared for the upcoming wildfire season: organize your 72-hour emergency supply kit, and plan for family, pet, and farm animal relocations in the event of an evacuation order. Refer to the Township’s website for more information on wildfire preparedness.
- In the event of an emergency where an Evacuation Order has been issued, Farming Business Operations may qualify for a Temporary Access Permit. To help prepare your farm, you may choose to complete the application form in advance of an emergency.
- Communities across the North Okanagan Join Alertable.The new program will share time-sensitive information related to local emergencies such as wildfires, floods, or other hazards.Sign up to receive emergency-related alerts in Spallumcheen.
- Spallumcheen Website at www.spallumcheentwp.bc.ca – In the event of an emergency please also utilize the Township of Spallumcheen website as up to date information will be available as soon as possible. Updates are generally provided and reported by advising of the next update date and time.

Public Works Department
- Flooding is possible in the spring so prepare and plan. Sandbag stations for Spallumcheen residents can be found at the Public Works Yard. Please bring your own shovel.
- Creeks & Culverts are being monitored daily. If you see any issues, please contact the office at 250-546-3013. During after hours the Township has an answering service who can reach out to the required personnel.
- Roadside Mowing will begin in June.
- Patching will be ongoing throughout the Township. Please drive with due care and attention and be respectful of signage, flaggers and crews working
- Watermain Flushing will be ongoing on Local Areas of Service operated by the Township.

- BC Building Codechanges took effect May 1, 2023 – these changes require most new construction to be 20% more energy efficient in accordance with the Energy Step Code.
