Evacuation Order and Alert areas remain unchanged at this time. There is an incoming incoming weather system which is predicting hot dry weather with the potential for increased winds and dry lightning. Please remain vigilant in checking your properties for embers and debris from the fire.
We are still asking people to refrain from entering the evacuation order area as crews continue to work addressing hazards:
• BC Hydro crews are in the area dealing with extensive damage caused by the wildfire.
• Danger tree assessments are taking place.
• Access and egress for fire equipment is critical and still ongoing.
Please ensure you are not impeding the ability for these crews to move freely.
Non-residents are asked to stay out of the Evacuation Alert areas as residents return to their homes so they can get back safely.

Road Closure
Highway 97 remains closed due to the wildfire. Residents that live in the area that are not on alert or order may still experience delays with various services such as parcel delivery, recycling pick up, and garbage pick up. We are working with the Ministry of Transportation to minimize the inconvenience but appreciate your patience as we respond to the changing situation.

Reception Centre
The reception centre located at Hassan Arena is now closed. You can access Emergency Support Services online https://ess.gov.bc.ca/ or by phone 1-888-800-6493. BC Evacuee Helpline is also available and open from 730am to 900pm 1-800-387-4258.
Wildfire Response

Operations:
Throughout the day, crews and heavy equipment will continue to establish control lines along the west flank of the fire, as well as extinguish hotspots around homes in community areas along Bonneau Road and in the south and northeast corner of the fire. Structure protection and defense crews will be working throughout the day to extinguish hotspots near homes along Westside Road. Aerial resources continue to support crews in fire suppression along the northern flank of the fire.
Today, crews may continue to execute small sized hand ignitions on the northwest corner south of Irish Creek Road to remove pockets of unburned fuel between the fires edge and machine guards to protect structures in the area. Crews will be closely monitoring the weather, and this burn will only proceed under appropriate conditions.
There continued to be significant Fire Department support throughout the night. NVIS supported efforts overnight providing aerial monitoring and conducting tanking operations to support structure protection and structure defense as patrols occur along Irish Creek Road, the Westside Road corridor and in the Highway 97 and St. Anne’s Road area.
BC Hydro is actively supporting response and working closely with BCWS, clearing downed lines and infrastructure impacts to support crews in accessing more areas of the fire to safely continue suppression efforts.
Fire behaviour this morning was mainly Rank 1 and Rank 2 meaning smouldering ground fire to low vigour surface fire, characterized by visible open flame and unorganized inconsistent flame fronts. Read more about fire ranks here.
