[Spallumcheen, BC – August 6, 2026 11:00 am] — Evacuation Order and Alert areas remain unchanged at this time. There is an incoming weather system which is predicting hot dry weather with the potential for increased winds and dry lightning. Please remain vigilant in checking your properties for embers and debris from the fire.
Environment Canada has issued a yellow health warning for the North Okanagan. More information about current air quality status can be found at their website: https://weather.gc.ca/airquality.
Environment Canada recommends that at-risk populations, children and elderly should avoid outdoor physical exertion. The general population should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors. The observed Air Quality Health Index is currently posted as 10+ for the North Okanagan.
We are still asking people to refrain from entering the evacuation order area as crews continue to work addressing hazards:
• BC Hydro crews are in the area dealing with extensive damage caused by the wildfire.
• Danger tree assessments are taking place.
• Access and egress for fire equipment is critical and still ongoing.
Please ensure you are not impeding the ability for these crews to move freely.
Non-residents are asked to stay out of the Evacuation Alert areas as residents return to their homes so they can get back safely.
