Things to Note on this release:
- Evacuation Alert area has not changed since it was first put in place on August 5, 2024.
- Township staff continues to monitor the situation and work with BC Wildfire and our local fire departments to provide up to date information.
- BC Wildfire website/app remains the best place to get current information about the fire size and suppression efforts.
- Our local fire crews will continue to patrol throughout the day and into the evening. You may see fire trucks in the area while BC Wildfire handles suppression activities.
- The Township has heard complaints from residents in the area about heavy traffic and people stopping suddenly to take pictures and video of the wildfire along Salmon River Road. Numerous residents under Evacuation Alert are moving livestock and other items along that route. We are asking non-residents to please avoid the area.
