EVACUATION ORDER NOW IN EFFECT NEW EVACUATION ALERT AREA
An Evacuation Order has been issued 2024-08-06 at 7:30 pm by the Township of Spallumcheen at the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) upon the advice of BC Wildfire Services. A wildfire is burning on Hullcar Mountain in the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) and in an abundance of caution based on the recommendation of BC Wildfire Service, an EVACUATION ORDER is in effect for the following areas:
Reception Centre:
If you are on EVACUATION ORDER you can register yourself for Emergency Support Services online here https://ess.gov.bc.ca/ or you can come to the Township Reception Centre at the Township Municipal Hall at 4144 Spallumcheen Way to register in person.
If you do not have family or friends to stay with and your home insurance does not cover your living expenses during evacuations you may be eligible for support from the Provincial Government.
What you should do if you are located in the Evacuation ORDER area.
For your own safety leave the area immediately. An evacuation order has been issued as there exists a potential threat to the immediate area.
Register for ESS either online or in person as noted above and check with your home or tenant insurance provider about coverage for basic living expenses during an evacuation.
What you should do if you are located in the Evacuation ALERT area.
An Evacuation Alert has been issued to prepare you to evacuate your premises or property should it be found necessary. Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible before evacuation; however, you may receive limited notice due to changing conditions. An Evacuation Alert means that residents in the identified area should be ready to leave the area for an extended period of time with short notice.
