Open Burning Reminder – Opening Burning will be permitted starting November 1 within the Township. If you are interested in burning on your property, please ensure you are familiar with the Township of Spallumcheen Fire Prevention Bylaw. You can also get more information on our website on the Open Burning page. Should you be found to be in contravention of the Township of Spallumcheen Fire Prevention Bylaw, you may be responsible for the costs associated with the fire call in addition to the fines you may be subject to.

Fireworks – Are permitted between October 24 and November 1 each year and are not permitted outside that timeframe as they cause stress and strain on our agricultural community. To report incidences of fireworks happening outside of this time frame, residents are asked to call 911 and ask for Fire Dispatch. Should the fire department respond to a fireworks call at your property, and you are found to be in contravention, you may be responsible for the costs associated with the fire call in addition to the fines you may be subject to.

For up-to-date information on Emergency Situations join Alertable. Alertable shares time-sensitive information related to local emergencies such as wildfires, floods, or other hazards. Sign up to receive emergency-related alerts in Spallumcheen. You can get information to your cell phone, via email, through the app or even called directly to a home phone.

Help prevent the spread of weeds and invasive species in BC by reporting sightings using the Report Invasives BC app (Android, iOS) or find information on managing invasive plants using the WeedsBMP app (Android, iOS).

Emergency Preparedness

Wildfire Preparedness Get prepared for the 2023 wildfire season: Organize your 72-hour emergency supply kit and plan for family, pet, and farm animal relocations in the event of an evacuation order. Refer to the Township’s website for more information on wildfire preparedness.

In the event of an emergency where an Evacuation Order has been issued, Farming Business Operations may qualify for a Temporary Access Permit in the event of an evacuation.  To help prepare your farm, you may choose to complete the application form in advance of an emergency to help with your pre-emergency planning.

Spallumcheen Website at www.spallumcheentwp.bc.ca – In the event of an emergency the Township of Spallumcheen will post the most current information to our website and send notifications out via the Alertable program as soon as possible.

Finance Department

If you have paid your 2023 property taxes in full and would like to make prepayments for 2024 taxes, please fill out the Property Tax Prepayment Plan form that was included with your 2023 property taxes or pick up a form at the Township office.

Public Works Department

Patching will be ongoing throughout the Township. Please drive with due care and attention and be respectful of signage, flaggers and crews working.

Watermain Flushing will be ongoing throughout Local Areas of Service operated by the Township.

Ditching will be ongoing throughout fall. To receive fill, please complete a fill from at the Municipal Hall to be considered for the program.
