Township of Spallumcheen Launches 2025 FireSmart Rebate Program to Support Wildfire Resiliency

The Township of Spallumcheen is pleased to announce the launch of the 2025 FireSmart Rebate Program, a proactive initiative of Council to help residents reduce wildfire risk and improve safety at home.
Thanks to funding provided by the UBCM Community Resiliency Investment (CRI) Program, eligible homeowners can apply for rebates of up to $5,000 for completing approved FireSmart activities on their residential properties.
How it Works
- Get Assessed – Book a free FireSmart Home Ignition Zone Assessment with our FireSmart Coordinator or Wildfire Mitigation Specialist. Note: Funding is limited and nearly 80% of assessments have already been booked. A waitlist will be created for additional interested residents.
- Create & Approve a Work Plan – Collaborate with our team to outline mitigation actions. Work plans must be approved before starting, but approval does not guarantee funding. Rebates are issued on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Do the Work – Complete eligible activities yourself or with contractors. Be sure to track hours, save receipts, and take before-and-after photos.
- Apply for a Rebate – Submit your completed application with supporting documents. Rebates over $1,000 require a follow-up visit.
Key Details
- Rebates are 50% cost-shared (e.g., spend $8,000 to receive a $4,000 rebate).
- Applications are open until October 31, 2025, or until funds are fully allocated.
- Only work recommended in your FireSmart Assessment and listed in the 2025 FireSmart Rebate Guide is eligible.
