In the event of an Evacuation Alert the following process will take place:

  • Notices clearly published by the Township of Spallumcheen with all required information will be provided for residents located within the Alert Area.
  • Due to the aggressive nature of the White Rock Lake Wildfire, there may not be an opportunity to hand deliver notices in the event of an evacuation alert. Please ensure that you are checking the Township website and local media as well as Wildfire BC website for up to date evacuation information.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

  • Locate family members and designate a meeting area outside the evacuation area should an Evacuation Order be called while separated.
  • Pack essential items such as government issued ID, Medications, eyeglasses, valuable papers, immediate care needs for dependents and, if time and space permits, keepsakes for quick departure.
  • Prepare to move persons with disabilities, children or neighbours, if assistance is needed.
  • Prepare to take pets with you and move livestock to a safe area (if possible).
  • Arrange transportation for all household members. Fill the gas tanks of personal vehicles.
  • Arrange accommodation for all members of the residence, if possible.  Staying with family and friend's is recommended due to shortages of accommodations.  If you own an RV it is recommended that it be considered as an option with local ESS services identifying options for evacuees with RV's.
  • Wait for an Evacuation Order to be issued before evacuating.
  • Monitor the news, radio and online sources for information on evacuation orders and location of Reception Centres.
  • Follow additional directives from the Prepared BC website related to wildfires.
