Pleasant Valley Road Project

Pleasant Valley Road is now a lot safer and smoother for all users!

Construction is complete on the 4.7km stretch of Pleasant Valley Road between Highway 97A and the City of Armstrong border. Paid for by two-thirds federal/provincial funding and Township reserves, the $4.5-million project provides:

  • Enhanced safety for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians
  • Improved access and traffic flow for all users
  • Improved water storage/drainage to optimize road life
  • Strengthened connection between Spallumcheen and Armstrong.

The Township of Spallumcheen thanks the following for their support and expertise during Pleasant Valley Road Improvements. Your contribution is very much appreciated!

  • Residents and businesses who participated in two project design open houses
  • Residents who provided the Township with easements for access during ditch construction and ongoing maintenance
  • Businesses who were patient with traffic disruptions during construction
  • Road users who obeyed flaggers and traffic signage

More than 4,000 vehicles use Pleasant Valley Road daily. You might be interested to know that…

  • The project spanned 4.7 kms divided into three project areas (see map below.
  • Almost 55,000 square metres of asphalt were used for paving.
  • More than 60 driveway culverts were installed or updated.
  • A whopping 15,000 lineal metres of road lines were painted.
  • A dozen shared-use signs have been erected, along with more than 60 new traffic signs. Of these, two are permanent digital speed-reader signs that provide instant feedback to motorists
